About Us

Elks Lodge — photo 1

The Elks Lodge at US-70 and 300 Gates Ave has been a fixture in Bryan County long enough that generations of Durant families have walked through the same front door. Rated 4.6 out of 5 by members and guests, this lodge has built its reputation on something simple: people who genuinely show up for each other. From the all-you-can-eat catfish fry that benefits the local Shriners to the regular charitable fundraisers that keep community causes funded, the calendar here stays busy because the members want it that way.

Step inside and you will find a place that feels earned rather than decorated. The bar is a gathering point, the dining events draw crowds willing to travel for a $10 ticket and a plate piled high, and the handshakes you get at the door are the real kind. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has always stood for four pillars: charity, justice, brotherly love, and fidelity. At the Durant lodge, those words are not framed on a wall. They show up in the check written to a local family in crisis, the scholarship handed to a graduating senior, and the neighbor who drives another member to a doctor's appointment without being asked.

What We Offer

The Durant Elks Lodge is not just a membership card. It is access to a full slate of events, a welcoming social hall, and a network of people who take the phrase "community service" literally.

Lodge events run year-round and include charity dinners, holiday celebrations, themed fundraisers, and community benefit nights like the popular Shriners catfish fry. Members enjoy access to the bar and lounge, lodge facilities for private gatherings, and the national Elks network spanning thousands of lodges across the country. Youth programs, veteran support initiatives, and local scholarship opportunities round out what membership actually means in practice.

Prospective members can attend a guest event or contact the lodge directly to learn about the initiation process. Dues are reasonable, the return is significant, and the people you will meet on Gates Avenue in Durant are exactly the kind you want in your corner.

"The people were very welcoming and friendly. The bartender Brandi on the other hand was very dry and rude, not sure if I’d ever go back to this one, she should learn some people skills."

"We went to a catfish fry for 10$ a ticket benefitting The local Shriners. The food was amazing and way generous and it was all you could eat; but trust me, you couldn’t eat more than one plate! They had desserts and auctioned off desserts and baked goods. They also had a silent auction for a side of beef. The people who were serving, cooking and generally helping out were so friendly and nice!! They had live entertainment, the one we saw was a young boy around seven singing Johnny cash and playing guitar; he was so talented!! The event started at 3:30 and they said there was a line out the door wrapping around the building all afternoon and evening! We arrived around six and there was still a line ❤️ these guys really are amazing people, the Elks do so much for the community and I love the fact that so many people came out to support The Local Shriners who are also such a great group that helps so many people. Thank you 🙏"

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
